The Penelope Red Black Blue Skies Skirt

The Penelope Red Black "Blue Skies" Skirt
was inspired by the old movie, "Blue Skies". The movie stars Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby and Joan Caulfield, and her costumes are amazing! In one scene she is wearing a yellow outfit, a draped hobble-inspired dress. This was my inspiration.

I decided to add a contrasting band to make the eye move up and down the body, and create length- as well as it wouldn't be Penelope Red without a little bit of panache!

The soft feel and curved lines of the draping I continued in the hem, creating a curved hem, with a peak at the centre front.

The silhouette looked best with the back being plain, and figure hugging. So the back curves around your hips, and has a split from the hem, at centre back. A large silver button fastens the waist band.

This design is flattering, and you can wear it to the office, as well as wear it out after work for drinks on Friday night. You will still look chic and sophisticated!

I have added a US size 6 (Australian size 10) to my Etsy store so far, and more sizes will be added soon. If you would like to enquire about sizes, or this design in another colour/print, please contact me at: designer@penelopered.com.au
